The kids of some friends made this film as a summer project, directed by a fourteen year old.

They bought the music, but otherwise, all costumes made by the kids, and locations found by them.

I just finished watching The Disguiser THAT was HARROWING. Such complexity, with layers and layers of secret identities, and resultant psychological torture, emotional torture, and don't forget the torture torture.

I called my mom yesterday. Not sure she knew who I was (in fact, I'm pretty sure she didn't) but she sounded happy, which is the main thing. Another thing I noticed was that the slight Swedish accent that is distinctive in parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin shaped some of her words. She never had that accent when we were growing up. Took a few hours off from ongoing eldercare emergencies and anxieties about bleeding money and nothing coming in to see the film during the cheap hours.

It was AWESOME. I loved everybody in it, especially the women. Oh, the women!!!

Because of a early morning schedule change, I ended up with midday free, and decided that the crowds were likely to be thinner now that the holidays were over, and the matinee prices suit me fine. So I packed a sandwich and went to see THE LAST JEDI.

It is a real crime to watch such a beautiful film on an iPad, but I have to trick myself into slogging on the exercise bike in this heat, and a gorgeous and brilliant South Indian film has the power to get me doing my duty.

It was so hot in here last night my brain was melting. I took myself on a date to the six-dollar-Sunday showing at noon. I thought I'd be alone, but the place was packed right up to the first row. I had nothing to do with the film, so I don't know why I was so gratified by the numerous audience.
