Yesterday was a full day. When I went to yoga in the morning, I noticed Painted Ladies fluttering EVERYWHERE! Zillions of them! I wonder if the numbers are an artifact of this year's rainfall being so plentiful, unlike the parched and mingy previous few years.
I also noticed TONS of wildflowers and greenery popping up along the freeway, where it's usually dead gray-brown.
I headed up into LA to spend the day with
rachelmanija. The weather was beautiful and clear, not too hot. We did get stuck in a massive traffic jam that turned out to be caused by a huge mall being shut down due to reports of a gunman with a suspicious package. Helicopters--fire trucks--zillions of police cars, and whole blocks along some of LA's main arteries blocked.
I guess the authorities were taking it dead seriously due to the day before's NZ attack-scumbags (I refuse to give them any more attention or notice than that; I erase them with all my will, and last night instead of talking or thinking about them, started reading a so-far delightful Muslim-oriented novel in conversation with Pride and Prejudice* ) but things gradually quieted as the day drew to a close.
We went to our favorite place to eat, and found some mall orphans at the next table--they still could not go back for their car, so they were pretty much stuck spending the day hanging about Santa Monica Blvd. But as they said, they had perfect weather for a spontaneous day off.
Much story talk made it a creative day.
* More later if it pays off.
