I hope I gave you plenty of ideas to play with and inspire you. I've tried to give you lots of scope, but if you find you can't work with them, or if you have another brilliant idea that excites you to write, then don't feel locked in to my prompts. I really believe the most important thing about Yuletide is writing a story that you're enthusiastic about and have fun writing.
Just briefly with the likes/dislikes - I love character driven stories that focus on relationships (either slash or devoted friendships), add as much or as little plot as you like. Please, please, NO character death, rape, partner betrayal etc. I don't mind angst, as long as there's a happy ending. I am all about TEH HAPPY.

I would love to see Chris realise that he CAN be gay for Edgar. Maybe having him ineptly attempt to woo Edgar might be fun? Or if you have another idea you’d like to run with, that’s awesome too. I generally prefer character driven rather than PWPs - I like hot porn as much as the next slasher but I like a believable exploration of how the characters get there so it certainly doesn’t have to be detailed. But because Chris has had to completely reassess his identity and ability to have sex with a man, I wouldn’t mind some insight into what he’s feeling when he does take the leap. If you don’t want to write them getting together that’s cool, but it'd be awesome if Chris and Edgar’s friendship could be a main focus. Whatever you choose to write will be awesome as long as you have fun writing it.
Just random things I love about the film, mostly I never get to rave about how much I love them:
I love how Chris is bemused by the whole thing - his developing feelings for Edgar, his jealousy of Marco, the uncertainty of not knowing if he did have sex with a man and not rejecting outright the possibility that something COULD have happened. How disconcerted he was about Mike and Edgar suddenly apparently boyfriends now.
I love that Edgar is so genuinely nice, and completely in love with Chris, that scene where he looks at a dozing Chris and murmurs just a little sadly about having fallen for him at first sight. And the teasing, the goggles ‘Du machst mir blind.’ I HAVE SO MUCH LOVE.
The Champions
“Telepathic pain” is how they describe it, when one gets hurt and the others feel it. I love that when Richard kisses a girl, Craig smiles. I love that their partnership is professional, but that they all care about each other. I love the fact that the three of them are so intertwined, psychically.
What I’d really love is a fic that showcases that relationship. It could a fic where they realise that they will always be the most important people in each other lives and live happily ever after together, either in a sexy threesome, or in a platonic co-dependant way. Or a mission fic with lots of hurt/comfort and depending on each other.
Or if you personally don’t see their relationship that way, I’d love a fic where Tremayne Finds Out. Tremayne didn’t get to the head of an organisation like Nemesis by being an idiot. He has to know there’s something special about the three of them. The way one or two of them regularly burst into his office claiming to know that the other/s is in danger, the freaky way they get seemingly impossible things done. In the Australian episode, Craig point blank insists on being told how to disarm the bomb, then stares into space at each step, then says, thanks, your instructions were clear, then the bomb fails to go off and Craig says he’s going to go check it out, and hey! Maybe they’ll run into Richard! And Tremayne says ‘I wonder…’ I would love a Big Reveal: where The Champions have to use their skills in front of him to save them all/rescue him etc, of course they’d be like, um, we can explain?
Hogan's Heroes
Colonel Klink FTW!!!! I want Klink to pwn everything, basically. I like to believe he's sekritly reasonably competent - after all, he was a pilot in WWI.
I am all about a Hogan and Klink relationship. Slash would make me happy, but so would the type of deep friendship forged by shared hardship that you know will last a lifetime.
Some completely optional ideas to play around with or mix and match...
- Klink's known all along and has been sekritly protecting them.
- A mission goes wrong and Klink has to protect/rescue them.
- What happens at the end? Do they stick it out to protect Klink and Schultz etc when the camp is liberated or are they ordered to escape en masse before then? How do they spin it so Klink isn't blamed?
If you'd really rather not write Klink, and I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, I absolutely have a heap of other ideas - if you want to write Hogan/Newkirk or Hogan/Kinch, I could be on board with that, or a gen getting-into-trouble fic, or what happens at the end of the war etc, all would be good, though I do really, really like fics to be relationship driven - either friendship or slash (no het, please!)
Diana Wynne Jones - Power of Three
I've just specified Gair because I figured it was a bit tricky with 7 kids and each of us only being able to specify 4 characters, I didn't want to rule out a match because of the 4 not matching exactly. Although I would definitely be happy to have Gair a central part of the story like in the book, any combination of some or all of the kids will make me very happy. I'd love a fic where the kids have grown up and fulfilled their potential and are allies/friends, but basically any fic revolving around the friendship of the kids would be awesome. For an ENTIRELY OPTIONAL prompt for if you like a lot of detail: I like the idea of Gerald becoming Gair's trusted advisor, maybe even living among the People, at least some of the time.
I was thinking gen fic for this, but if you decide to write them as grown ups, and are inspired to write a pairing and you feel you can achieve this while keeping the tone of the book, that's fine. Oh, and I forgot to mention it in my sign up, but in this fandom I'd be equally happy with het.
Saturday Night Live
OMG OMG OMG - a great event in slash fandom - a slash pairing actually becoming canon! These two are just completely adorable together. I am all about the happy! and the cute here!
Some suggestions
- I’d like to read about Stefon’s life as a married man. How he spends his days now he is married.
- How Stefon inducts Seth into his ‘five-timers club’
- Stefon introduces Seth to his folks.
I'd just like to clarify that the Seth Meyers who married Stefon is a fictional persona, therefore please don't include any RL characters outside of the Weekend Update universe (eg Seth’s RL wife/then girlfriend).
MASH
Winchester was my favourite character. I loved the growth his character went through.
I personally slash Hawkeye/Winchester but I realise that this is one of those weird pairings that makes most people look at me sideways, so please don't feel in the least obliged to.
If you do want to give it a go and would like a (completely optional!!!) prompt - maybe Hawkeye finds out that Winchester is gay (repressed much?) and finds it mildly amusing and maybe occasionally sly alludes to it, so that Winchester knows he knows and gets all strung out about it, but Hawkeye doesn't really care and doesn't realise that he's pushing too hard...
BUT, I would also completely love a fic where Hawkeye and Winchester are forced depend on each other in a way that creates a bond, or find out something about each other that makes them realise they have something in common and makes them friends, or maybe they meet after the war and become BFFs then.
