These are a few of my favorite things
YOU GUYS: It's not official yet, and is hinging on my friend's work schedule, BUT...I might go to Chicago this summer to see U2!!!
In case you weren't aware, I opted out of seeing them earlier this year when they came to DC, and regretted it SO MUCH. It was the first time I didn't catch them on tour since I was old enough to go to concerts (1997, to be precise), because I am not super fond of the new album. But then I heard they were AMAZING, and regretted it so, so much.
Yesterday, I texted my friend (and U2 soulmate) Tom about Bono's birthday (as I do every year) and he said, "U2 is playing Soldier Field again this summer. Wanna go?" And you know, it was one of those offhanded comments you kind of are like, "yeah whatever" about. But then I thought about it, and umm...YEAH I want to go. Not only is it U2, it is also:
-Chicago
-Illinois
-Tom
-His wife and my Chicago BFF, VIctoria
- The possiblity of seeing all of my old Illinois peeps
-A possible trip to my college town for the most amazing pizza ever.
So I texted him back this morning and said: "If I say yes, can we go to Carbondale and get Quatros Pizza?" And, duh, it's the best pizza ever, so of course he said yes. And thus...he is checking his work schedule tonight, I am checking flights, and it might happen!
Oh, and the best part is, the concert is the Tuesday after the July 4th weekend. I already have Monday, July 5th off, so I'd only need to take 2 days off work. Which means I could still do that, go to the beach, and be around for my future neice or nephew's birth in September. Eeiiii!!!!!!
Cross your fingers this happens, y'all. Because I am already way too excited for it to not work out.
