Parks and Rec vs. The Office

Sep 24, 2009 23:10

You guys, Parks and Rec is killing me. Tonight's episode, especially - with Ron and the hernia not being able to move....oh my god. I laughed out loud at every scene he was in. His facial expressions are genius. And so so funny. Also, this was probably the first time April was actually useful and entertaining, but I'm glad, because character growth, yay!
Also awesome this episode: the bonding between Leslie and Tom, and also, who knew, Mark and Ann are actually cute together. And what can I say about Chris Pratt except he JUMPED IN THE PIT and it was one of the funniest sight gags I've seen in  a long time. So, in short: If you're not watching this show,  you should be. It's found its footing, and is only getting better with each episode, and i kind of love it. I was actually looking forward to it tonight.

As for The Office - I think I'm starting to feel that disappointment everyone else felt last year. I appreciate that people grow and change over the course of six years, so of course Jim wants to get a promotion, but c'mon - it's Jim. This is not Pam climbing her way up the ladder, paying her dues with years at reception, walking through coals, and striking out on her own with Michael. I care about Pam. I want her to succeed. But Jim - well, it's exactly what Toby wrote about him in his file: he's a slacker. And he's best as a slacker. I dont want Serious Manager Jim. I want goofy Jim.
That being said, I loved the stuff with Dwight and Toby, and Dwight's reaction to why he thought Darryl's sister was Darryl was priceless. "Are you serious? Am I the only one? Are you guys getting this?"
So, I still love you, Office, and I'm still going to watch you, and I still love everyone at Dunder Mifflin. But I think you might be starting to show your age. You need another Michael Scott Paper Company plot. Or, you know, just bring Amy Ryan back. I'd be okay with that, too.

So, lots of stuff has happened in the last few weeks, which is why I've been sort of MIA in LJ world. I'll write about it soon, hopefully tomorrow. It's all good stuff, just change, which makes me tired.
