Happy Friday, everyone! Unlike the interminable last week, this week has gone by fairly quick. Thank goodness. I'm super excited about this weekend, mainly because my roommate is currently traipsing around Italy, so I have the apartment to myself. Woot! Don't get me wrong, I love my roommate, but it's always nice to have an empty house every once in awhile.
Believe it or not, I am also excited about this weekend because I have plans for a major cleaning. I know, I'm super cool. You don't have to tell me. The thing is, Roommate and I get along and all, but we have different cleaning methods. She uses sponges for everything; I think they are absolutely disgusting. I prefer using dishcloths for dishes; they gross her out. We compromise on the scrub brush that squirts soap thingy. But she still leaves her sponge out and uses it to clean EVERYTHING, and then KEEPS it, which is just so gross to me. Anyway. So, the point is, I never get to clean. She always beats me to it, and then I feel guilty. And the one time I offered to vacuum, as I felt guilty she had been cleaning all day, she stood in the living room and watched me like a hawk, and moved furniture around. It was weird. I'm not gonna lie. So I guess it's kind of like when Lorelai went to the spa with Emily and Rory was all excited because she got to do her laundry the way she liked. Yeah, it's like that.
Speaking of Gilmore, another thing I am super excited about is the GG Virtual season 8! To members on my flist who are involved: Bravo! The thing is, I was kind of against a virtual season. Just because, despite the not so great seasons 6 and 7, I thought the show ended perfectly. The series finale is the most satisfying one I've seen, and I thought, they're done. They got the lives they wanted, and they're done. Tht was one reason I didn't want to read. The other reason was...I guess I was in mourning, kind of? I have barely watched the show since it went off air. It was like a break up, I guess. I needed my space. I needed to move on, to get to that place where I could love other shows as I loved Gilmore. Now...I don't think that has actually happened - for as much as I love The Office and Dexter, they haven't replaced the Gilmore-shaped hole in my heart. I love them in a different way. But, I still needed time, and distance. Anyway...a few weeks ago I decided to try the whole season 8 idea, and, uh...it's pretty fucking amazing. The best thing about it is that it's not The Luke and Lorelai Show, or the Lorelai and Rory and Luke Show. It's Gilmore Girls. The writers, somehow - and I don't know how because I know I couldn't do this - recreated Stars Hollow in all its glory, and I really feel like I am reading an episode of Gilmore.
(Note to authors: Kirk's wedding? Taylor's kidney stone? Kirk being jealous of all of Rory's jobs? Lane embracing motherhood? Genius, all of it!)If you are anything like me, you might still need more time. But, when you are ready to maybe see what happened to Lorelai and Rory after the bon voyage party, check it out. I have yet to be disappointed.
Thing three to be excited about: A potential boy. Again. I'm honestly getting a little sick of the whole "getting to know you" process, because I can only say the same five key things about myself so many times before it gets tiresome. But, this one seems cooler than most, seems to be the appropriate height, and seems to look cute. So...we'll see.
Thing four: My lost childhood rediscovered in websites about young adult novels!
sillyzilly2k has already talked about
The Dairi Burger, which is awesome, and brings up memories of being a kid and spending entire weekends and summers reading, but there is also
What Claudia Wore, which is possibly the funniest website I've ever been to. The only downside is the writer doesn't seem to update frequently anymore. However, if anyone wants to laugh or get nostalgic, check those sites out. Fan-freaking-tastic.
Happy Friday, everyone! In case you need a pick-me-up, here is something to brighten your day. (Although, I also find it frustrating that the entire speech isn't on here. Blerg!
