Huzzah for Veronica Mars! My dad watched the first few minutes (I think he felt bad because my mom left the room, and he didn't want to leave me alone. But honestly, Veronica Mars is something I would either watch with someone who actually knows the story lines, or alone.) and as the opening credits started to play, he turned to me and very smugly said, "So this is, what--Buffy with a splash of Nancy Drew." He was very proud of himself for making this observation...until I told him that yes, in fact, that was how they sold the show, and critics have been saying that for two years now. Poor dad wasn't as clever as he thought he was.
So, my thoughts on the episode:
--VERY solid overall. I really dug all the plot lines tonight.
--Is that the girl from Laguna Beach? I swear, I've only seen the show a few times, but I vaguely remember reading something about a guest star from one of the Laguna people. Um...she should never, ever act. Especially not alongside a seasoned veteran like Kristen Bell. It's like a novice acting next to Lauren Graham: She got blown out of the water.
--Yay, Mac! Please have more Mac. Just make her a regular, really.
--I kind of love Jackie now. Big switch from the beginning of the season. And I loved the Veronica/Jackie bonding. Therefore, I hope their potential friendship is not just a set up for whatever is in store for Terrance Cook. Please still be friends.
--I can't decide whether I want Terrance to be guilty or not. However, I am totally excited to watch the rest of the season and be surprised at the end. I watched season 1 on DVD after seeing the season finale, so I already knew who Lily's killer was.
--I'm loving Logan's gray area as much as Terrance's. Does he actually care about the girl? For a split second, I bought that he does, but Veronica's sudden stop in the hallway made me stop as well. Hmmm....
--It has to be said twice: I love Mac.
