Different method & weather hindrences

"Have I ever lied to you?... I mean, in this room." -GLaDOS

I haven't had much chance to do any drawing lately. Though I did finish a piece a couple days back. Oddly enough, it's not RL that's hindering my drawing atm, but the weather. It's been cloudy the last few days (raining here and there, too. I lost power on Monday during a storm), and I don't have good lighting at my desk. So if I want to get drawing done I do it in the afternoon or when I get home. I do plan on picking up a new light for my desk lamp in the near future, however to fix this.

The major down side to this is I was planning on spending these two days I have off outside drawing. My work is in a strip mall, and there's this area near work, in the parking lot, where there's a couple trees and a few benches. it's fairly nice, and far enough from the main flow of traffic through the strip that cars wouldn't be annoying. Ah well, mebbe next week.

I'm also trying a different approach to drawing now. With me focusing on more of the body it's difficul to figure out how big everything should be to get what I want on a page. So, I've began sketching quickly and lightly at first to get a vague idea as to how it'll fit and then going from there. Yeah, I haven't been doing much sketching when drawing, mostly just fighting with lines to make them do what I want. I've started on somethign today using this method. It seems like it's also a bit faster of a way to go about drawing. Probably because I have a rough that I'm detailing out, as opposed to starting with nothing and trying to turn it into something.

I got the idea from watching Fred Gallagher draw. Every so often when he does the latest strip for Megatokyo, he streams what he's working on so ppl can watch. This is one of the reasons why my art has also slowed down. It takes him hours to do one strip, and when he's streaming I've sat there the entire night watching.

Anyways, I'm done with art for today though. Dim light making my eyes hurt X_x
