The Clockworks of Nature
With much planning and attention to detail, it is possible to align the forces of nature such that they work for you. The universe can be a finely-tuned machine, and that machine should work for you.
Currently it works for me.
I have a steady source of criminals to arrest, bringing me some measure of wealth. I have another steady source of criminals to generate wealth for me without too much of my attention. Hiram has become the kind of right-hand man I have always wanted. True, he isn't an orc, which gives him a leg up on his prior competition.
Nevertheless, I feel that I have reached a plateau. I am accumulating power slowly, more slowly than I like. I do not yet have a toehold in any of the corporations that truly run this world.
This must change.
