Last week...
...I discovered, quite by accident, that I didn't exist. At least the phone company said so. It seems that when I got my phone hooked up, for some reason the number that I was given was not processed which meant that it was not active of course, and that also for some reason I was assigned another number, and one that I was not given a choice about or notified that I would be given.
It took calls to both the business office and the trouble line (both were actually on at the same time at one point discussing this novelty) to finally sort out the mess. They finally gave me the number that I was originally given and which I was already handing out to all and sundry, permanently now. They also said that they'd enable a re-direct so that anyone who called the old number would be directed to the new one. They said that would be free and "no charge". I got my bill on Monday and there was a charge for that, anyway. I got back on the phone to the business office and got them to remove that like I was originally promised. Now, on July 5th, I'll be expecting a bill that will be $3 less than it would be otherwise.
