...was the last day that Oskar's Sausage Haus & Deli Meats was open for business. This was the deli/butcher shop you went to if you wanted authentic European-style sausages, meats, and cold cuts. Now he's closed up shop forever. Why? He decided it was was time to retire. After 39 years in business, you can't really argue that.

I have no place to go now to get really good liver wurst. Oskar was the only one that sold the fine-style liver sausage I liked, that was made fresh on premises. So I went and tried the all supermarkets, Safeway, Sobey's, Superstore/Extra Foods, Wal-Mart, none of them carry what I want.

I may just have to reconcile the fact that I must now live without.

Fortunately, the other deli I go to, the Italian Star, is still in business. If I want authentic Italian meats, cheeses, and pastas, that's where I'll go.

There's nothing in town though, that will ever take the place of Oskar's
