And now something more serious...
There are some incredibly dark forces in this world and it's easy to dwell on the evil that exists and lose faith in human nature as a whole. It is those people who are strong enough to come forward with their experiences and turn those moments of darkness into something positive, that really change the world. Taki Soma is one of those people.
What happened to Taki in Ohio this November was a violation and is something that cannot be allowed to continue to go unpunished. It's so easy to stay quiet when someone sexually assaults you...so many people tell you that you're over reacting... that it will hurt your career... that no one will believe you. It's a scary time, and it takes a strong woman to fight those fears and speak her mind. I know what it's like to be scared... how easy it is to just stay quiet. I never came forward when I was being sexually harassed... I was a fool for that.
Friends of Lulu is a wonderful organization and they're stepping up and starting a fund to benefit women in the comic book industry who have been sexually assaulted so they have a place to turn to when something like what happened to Taki or myself occurs. Read Ronee's column.... repost this link... spread the word. There's been entirely too much silence... its time to start talking
