More commentary!

Significance, a Polyfaceted fic, requested by Kat.

Oh, John.

So, no lie, as I was writing this, the working document title was "John is a slut fic." XD

What? He so is. =P

The very definition of an Ethical Slut (warning: link goes to TV Tropes), to be exact. He just enjoys sex and he thinks it's something that people (those who are so inclined, anyway) should have more of, and everyone should be safe and happy about any and all experiences.

So, to each pocky!

John’s first time had to be with a woman older than him and more experienced than him. It just had to be. He learned a lot from Hannah, too-how to listen to a woman, how to give her what she wants. A good formative experience for him, right off the bat, learning to make sure his partner is having a good time.

The next two, Ella and Ashley appear again! They pleased me in the Tina fic, so I had to include them again here. Ella being a tease and Ashley having a thing for exhibition were details that came (heh) to me pretty naturally, and I enjoyed those bits.

(Note: there is a possibility that, at some point after the revelation that they both slept with John, he, Ella, and Ashley have a threesome. Just a random porny tidbit for you. John, of course, totally approves of this possibility. Shocking, isn’t it? =P)

Spencer! John’s first time with a guy. He does not have much of an identity crisis about it-it’s pretty much, Welp, that makes sense, actually. It’s something he’s suspected for awhile by this point, I think. So that’s why.

Speaking of being fond of previous characters: Elaine! From this fic. I enjoyed Elaine quite a bit, and John did too. He really could have had a relationship with her, and I think it would’ve actually turned out fairly well, to be honest. Alas, Elaine was simply not in the place for a relationship at that time, and John knew that. But it doesn’t stop him from wondering.

I mention Colin briefly in this Martin fic, and keep meaning to come back to him, because I think his and John’s relationship is a good one. It’s totally new territory for John, but he’s loving it, and I think Colin enjoys showing him the ropes, so to speak. =P

This one is, of course, a reference to THE FEUD. John beats Charles to asking out Tina; Charles is displeased and makes his displeasure known; John finds his displeasure hilarious. He’s totally being a dick here, but it makes me laugh. Also, Charles deserves it. (Really, dude. Calling dibs?)

Experimenting with kink here, and John discovers that he quite likes it a lot! (Which is handy, later, with Owen. =P) A good thing to discover about oneself for sure.

Tom is a fuck-buddy in the purest sense, and goes back to the theme of John being such an Ethical Slut. Oh, John.

This one was fun. Santana intrigued me more than I expected. I like John’s offbeat method of hitting on her here-it’s original, since obviously he’s figured out that tired clichés aren’t going to work. Santana also appreciated the originality, obviously. =P I think they have quite a bit of fun.

Drew is probably the only sexual encounter John ever regrets in his life. He’s young here, and still figuring himself out, but he broke a rule by sleeping with one half of a married couple, and he knows it, and he feels guilty as fuck about it. He makes a promise to himself that he’ll never do that again, and he keeps it.

I had to end with Brenda. Their friendship is wonderful, and while their fling is short, it is meaningful in its way. He’s so good with her, and I adore them, I really do.

High Class, a Polyfaceted fic, requested by Geena.

Lol, this fic. So…basically I went to a wedding with Sylvia and her family, and the Corlionis had Opinions on the whole thing. (To be fair, some guy there was wearing a button-down shirt in camo print, and one of the groomsmen attached truck nuts to the groom’s belt, so some of those Opinions may have been slightly justified, but…)

So I wrote them this fic to shut them all the hell up, the snobs.

Which they totally are. The Corlionis are hugely classist. Some of them are (overtly) racist, some of them are (overtly) sexist, but nearly all of them are classist as fuck. This fic is a great example of that. They’re all judging the hell out of this wedding. It’s amusing, though, because it’s kind of temporarily bonding them-even Leo is getting along-and I do enjoy that. It’s fun when no one is being a completely terrible person and even the ones who don’t like each other can still be siblings.

So none of them are happy, but it’s funny when they’re not happy, because they get snarky and bitchy, and I do enjoy writing the banter. I also enjoy everybody censoring their language around Mrs. Corlioni. Oh siblings, you are so predictable.

Sometimes it’s just fun to write about the less-nice side of these guys, be it them being judgmental assholes or be it them killing people for daring to cross them. They are our protagonists, but they are not the good guys.

Reputation, a Polyfaceted fic, also requested by Geena.

Once again: oh, John.

So this isn’t mentioned in this fic, but John picking up Tina here is actually the start of THE FEUD between him and Charles (aka Michael’s brother). I don’t think we’ve worked out exactly how long it lasts, but it amuses the everloving fuck out of me. Just. They have A FEUD. Lol forever, guys. Lol forever.

Anyway. John is the biggest manslut to ever manslut in the history of mansluts. He happens to be single at this point in time, so of course he’s going to flirt with a new, cute nurse, and of course he’s going to ask her at least to coffee. He’s good-looking and charming-it’s not a surprise that she agrees.

I love that Tina consults her fellow nurses on his reputation-of course the nurses are going to know. I was amused by the fact that the two she’s apparently closest to both apparently slept with him-and didn’t know it. But it’s not a stretch-John does not kiss and tell. He’s a good dude about that sort of thing.

I had fun with them being like, “I slept with him.” / “Hey, me too!” and them not being at all bothered by that, because hey, it was fun, and no one was lied to or hurt at all. It’s the essence of John being an Ethical Slut, really.

Tina considering the upside to regular orgasms made me lol.

Her being scared of Brenda also made me lol, because let’s face it-Brenda is head nurse, of course she’s intimidating, especially to new nurses. Of course, Brenda by this point has already had her brief relationship with John-it happens shortly after she leaves Brett the first time-and plus they’re good friends to boot, so obv she knows all his habits, lol. I had to have her drop that bit of advice-softening her a little in Tina’s eyes in the process. A conscious choice, definitely.
