Day 06 - Favorite episode of your favorite TV show.
My first instinct was to pick the series finale, but then I glanced back over the question list and realized I'd need to use that for another day, so that led to me searching through an episode list, trying to narrow it down. Not easy, not with this show.

This episode has everything I love about Boston Legal. It has a juicy political case: Concord wishing to secede from the union; it has tension between Alan and Denny: they're trying opposite sides of said case; it has Denny being kickass in the courtroom and proving to us why he's Denny Crane; it has a long, eloquent closing from Alan that is poignant and continues to resonate; and it has a truly touching reaffirmation of friendship between Alan and Denny at the end.
I love the episodes where Denny gets to shine, and this is one. I don't agree with the minutiae of his argument, but I am firmly on his side here. I love how deeply offended he is by the notion of secession, and I agree entirely. I also love how this throws the Alan-and-Denny friendship under a spotlight, questioning how lasting and deep it really is, only for it to come out the other end perfectly intact, and, indeed, stronger than before. I love the way the case parallels Alan's thoughts and uncertainties on work versus friendship, and that the lack of true interaction between Alan and Jerry is acknowledged.
Basically, I love everything about this ep; it's note-for-note perfect. Truly a prime example of why this show is fucking awesome.
