Today I'm recommending Stumbling on Happiness by Daniel Gilbert. This book is about the fact that, really, our brains are pretty damn bad at predicting what will make us happy, and it explains why that is. For anyone interested in psychology and learning more about how our brains work, this is a great book to check out; it's fascinating, accessible, and well-written, as the author has a good sense of humor, so it never gets too dry or incomprehensible. He was actually a guest on The Colbert Report awhile back to promote it, which you can watch
here, if that interests you. (Or, if you're from outside the U.S. and can't watch it there, download it
here.)
If this kind of thing intrigues you, the book is
available on Amazon for pretty cheap--a used copy is only $2, so definitely give it a shot.
