Supernatural - 6x03 - The Third Man - Review

Oct 09, 2010 16:02

So, we begin episode three, The Third Man, with some loose skin and a really bad shave-job... Seriously? Who shaves their own back? lol Okay... Not often am I grossed out, but all three of these plagues gave me the heebie-jeebies. I mean, the first guy just exploded into blood and gushy bone... Ew, much? Poor partner was probably traumetized. Not for long, mind you.

I don't know why, but I always assumed Dean would be a cuddler. Every time they show him and Lisa in bed together though, he's facing away. Better access to his gun beneath the bed, maybe? lol I don't know. But I'm still not feeling these two. Frankly, I was glad he woke up via traffic, because I didn't want to watch anymore. Even if Jensen's got a beautiful back, lol. And bedhead - awww!

I really liked the differences between Sam and Dean's wake-up routine though. Dean just gets up and stretches, that's about the only work-out he's got while Sam's working up a sweat. Seriously, does anybody else remember when Jared Padalecki was that really tall skinny kid on Gilmore Girls? lol Now he's all straining, sinewy muscle. I miss emo-Sam though; regardless of the fact that she's a call-girl, he treated her so whatever. I felt dirty for him. lol

Who died and made you boss? Thank you, Dean. I don't like in-charge Sammy. Sometimes, he's more like the Gang than he is like the Sam we know and love. Expected, I know. What with hell and all that crap. But he's not even hanging out with the Gang and he still acts that way.

*gags* Boils. *gags some more* I can't handle things like that. If anybody has watched The Neverending Story (and it's a classic, so I assume most of you have) and they've seen the bubbled skin on the flying dog... I swear that started some kind of phobia for me. I can't handle boils or fluid-engorged anything... *shudders* And they were popping up all over Police Officer Drinks Too Much.

Ben... I know you're lying... Because I lie professionally, that's how... Now tell your mom that you broke the damn thing and take it like a man. Okay? O-Okay... I still think he makes a good dad and I like him with Ben. I can't tell if Sam agrees or not. Sometimes he's pro-Dean with family, other times he seems to think it's a joke. (sighs)

In the morgue, it's reminiscent of the old Dean and Sam, which I like. There's easy banter and Sam's not as snappish as he sometimes seems. The one emotion he seems to have lately is impatience.

Ugh. So I knew the second the cop started scratching his head that something was under there eating away... Locusts. Yum. lol Dean's awkard uh-what-now? expression is great, while Sam just looks irritated that the dude died. Understandable since they wanted answers, but the old Sam would've at least looked sorry for the loss-of-life.

Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray to Castiel to get his feathery ass down here... I was excited. lol Bouncing in my seat - yay Cas - excited! Haha, aww, Dean looks so awkward trying to pray and be positive while being a pretty non-prayer type... Do ya... Do ya copy? bahahaha!

Cas: (stares at Sam) Hello.
Sam: (angry face at Dean)
Dean: (smug)
Sam: Hello?
Cas: Yes.
Sam: (Looks to Dean incredulously, then back at Cas and mimicks irritably) Hello. (Throws hands up, looks back at Cas.) Hello?!?
Cas: Uh, that is still the term...?

OhMyCas - lol - I loved/missed him! And also, kind of happy he answered Dean when he wouldn't Sam. I don't know why, but I can't help but be annoyed with Sam. Lack of emotion, jerkness to Dean, etc.

Sam: So what, you like him better or something?
Cas: Dean and I do share a more profound bond.
Dean: (eyeroll)
Cas: (looks back at Dean) I wasn't gonna mention it.

LMAO! Seriously, Cas always brings unexpected hilarity. He's not trying to which makes it even funnier.

Sam: Well I thought the staff turned like a... river to blood, not one dude.
Cas: The weapon isn't being used at full capacity... (seriously) I think we can rule Moses out as a suspect.

Seriously, I was busting a gut through all of Cas' scenes.

Onward...

Angels buying souls, that's... disturbing.

The whole Castiel-torturing-the-boy scene was really awful. Not in a bad-acting sense because Misha pulls off Cas better than I think anybody else ever could, but in that Cas can't think about what he's doing and Sam doesn't really care what's happening while Dean is fighting it but getting no support. Reminds me of last episode when Sam didn't back him up on the whole shifter-baby-plays-house-with-the-Gang ridiculousness. I see Cas' point of view; he has to do this, doesn't want to, and can't think too much about it. But Sam is a whole other ball-game. He watches and there's like no emotion. Disturbing.

Anybody else think Cas fighting is hot? lol Seriously, he kicks ass... and destroys Sam's car - SILVER LINING BONUS POINTS!

As far as I know, Michael's still in the pit... Right? With Lucifer. And Gabriel's dead (sad-face). So that makes Raphael the last archangel standing and apparently he really wants to war. Sounds like tons o' fun.

Balthazar reminds me of Crowley. Not a bad thing, really. I liked Crowley.

It's also interesting how the writers spins angels and how they're good and not good; they've all got very human views on things. Because technically, we're supposed to think angels think in black and white, but in Supernatural it goes deeper than that. Most of them seem to be out for themselves, rather than doing what God wants of them.

I feel bad for Cas though, because he's being told that his actions are the reason others are rebelling. The problem behind this line of thinking is that Cas did it for a reason bigger than himself. The others are rebelling for selfish reasons; Cas did it for his friends and for the world. I don't think he knows that though. Poor guy, somebody give him a caffeine IV, that'll perk him up. haha

Poor Cas tries to talk the other angels out of fighting him, too. He wants so much to believe he can get through to them.

Raphael's a douche. Is it just me or was Gabriel really the only likeable one? And even he was pretty douchey sometimes. Funny though. And he at least liked humans; didn't seem to think of them as lower beings on God's food chain. Seriously, if anyone should be in charge up in heaven, I'm voting for Cas. He's the only one not out to serve his own agenda.

Props to Balthazar for coming back to save Cas. And to Dean for thinking of the kid who gave up his soul.

Thought: Maybe Sam doesn't have a soul. Could be he returned from hell without it, making him emotionless and such.  That would suck. How're they supposed to get that back?

People keep asking and Sam's not being honest. Obviously, something is up with him. I'm not sure I like what he says about how going to hell tortured Dean, but didn't him... Dean was literally tortured and then tortured others, so yes, I can see why it might scar him more. But Sam makes it sound like it was a cake walk for him. If anything, I'd assume it was worse. He sent Lucifer back to hell, he kicked the apocalypse off its tracks... I doubt they were downstairs throwing him a party. I don't know, sometimes it just seems like he's being condescending toward Dean - like Dean doesn't understand things and Sam doesn't feel like explaining them. *grumbles*

Claps for the Soon preview - BOBBY! I ♥ him! *rubs hands together* I'm excited!

What do you think?
