I was dreading Christmas this year.
I don't really like the festive season anyway, and I didn't have anywhere to go. Not that having Christmas with my family would have made a difference. I just dislike Christmas in general.
The pressure to 'have fun' and be happy, when really it's just a boring, depressing day with no football.
Boxing Day is so much better.
The food tastes better second time around, there's sport on the telly and there are places to go.
But things worked out pretty well, and I actually managed to have a pretty decent Christmas all in all.
Of course that was down to the company I chose to keep, but I managed to smile and not be depressed at all.
I even spent Christmas Night alone in a swanky hotel and was still smiley and relaxed.
Nothing to do with the champagne I had with my dinner, oh no!
I only have a week left here in the country.
The time is flying by due to all the fun I am having, and I hope that my last week here is even better.
I'm sure it will be now that the pressure of Christmas is over.
And more importantly, I can drink again!
Now to find a pub that is 1) open, 2) showing the football, and 3) showing the Chelsea - Villa game.
