Random thought: my new socks have a hole in them :( *tear* I want more socks. Must keep that in mind. Eh, too lazy to go shopping.
By the way, does anyone remember that one art exhibit with the sculptures of green dogs. It was like a family in a life scale kitchen with 30 green dogs. Reminded me of 101 Dalmatians. Yeah, I'm strange, get used to it.
Roy and Clark smile and head for the train, while Jacob and I head up to the Library to study.
"Sometimes I wonder if the rest of their family is as weird as they are." Jacob mentions.
"I wouldn't call it weird."
"No, they're definitely weird, but cool too. Anyways, how is math treating you?"
"Pretty well actually,” We sit down at a table in the middle of the library. "But, I still don't know how to do these problems."
Jacob takes out his notebook and begins sketching out the equations. I feel a little guilty. Is it bad that I get to hang out with this uber cute guy? I mean, I DO suck at math, but still, why does it seem like I'm using this opportunity to my advantage?
"You alright Remundo?"
"Yeah. You know, if I'm keeping you from getting home and.."
"Remundo, its fine. I like math. Besides, if you need help, what kind of friend would I be if I let you fail?" My cheeks flush. He considers me as a friend!
"Thanks."
"No problem! Now about the quadratic equation....."
Luckily, I'm not distracted too much by Jacob's good looks, and am able to finish the homework skillfully.
"Again, you amaze me Jacob. I could never get this myself."
"You're the best I've had to tutor so far. I bet you'll get great grades." My chest feels a bit lighter. I'm not used to all this flattery.
"Honestly, thanks so much. Is there anything I can do for you? I mean... I'm not that good at school, but if you need help in something?" God, what did I say that for, he probably thinks I'm an idiot!
"Hmmmm. Actually, I was thinking. You know, I've never heard you play the drums. Sure, you're great at the cowbell*, but you think you could show me something on the drum set?"
"Definitely! That would be easy!"
"Great! We'll have to do that sometime. Let's get going down to dinner, it's almost six."
Dinner was less crowded than lunch or tea, but most of the school was still there. Kids that live in the near area usually go home after tea, the others stay here overnight.
"Are you an overnighter Jacob?"
"No, not usually. Sometimes I stay over because dad wants me to, but not that much. Hey, lets sit over there."
We situate ourselves over by Kyle, the French Horn player with the bangs, who is reading a small black book. He smiles as we walk over, I've actually never seen him do this, and shows us that he's reading some science fiction novel about time travel.
We laugh, we talk, and eat a chicken soup dish. Later, me and Jacob head for the train and Kyle stays behind for the night. As the train pulls out from the loading track, Jacob whispers to me,
"Kyle and I were discussing your drumming; he wants to hear you too."
"Okay." I say, a little disappointed that it's not just a me and Jacob thing. "Why?"
"You'll see!" Jacob punches my shoulder and grins. Well, better trust him I guess.
*mostly during arranged songs for band, percussionists play small accompanying instruments like cowbells and triangles. Nothing very solo like.*
