Except that the monkey talks. That's bad.

Looks like Cyberconxion is closed.

While my visits there ranged from "fun" (trying to play Karaoke Revolution while the kids playing Halo next to me kept trying to interrupt me to ask how to work the console-switching system, or something to that extent hello, I am singing really crappy pop here, do you mind?; attempting to play Rumble Roses and ( Read more... )

Yeah. I did hope they'd do well, even if I haven't gone in a while. Doesn't seem to make much sense, but that's how it goes.

Man, I never actually made it to CyberConexion. That sucks.

Unrelated question: Do you guys want back the boxes you gave us for the move? We've still got them if you do, but if not we can send them on their way.

Nah, if there's another use for them out there, or you want to toss 'em, that's OK. Glad that they got some more use. :)

Then we'll see they get recycled. Thanks again...we couldn't have done it without them. And we need to get together with you guys sometime soon.

For some reason I got thinking about Theophile Gautier's Captain Fracasse today, and remembered you liked Cyrano. Captain Fracasse was partly a source for Cyrano, with many of the same themes: a gentleman from Gascogne who's also an expert swordman, the world of 17th century French theatre, impossible love. It lacks Cyrano's tirades (what with being a novel), but it has several "awwww" moments.

Anyway, if you come accross it (it doesn't seem to be currently in print in English), you might want to take a look. Beware: the first chapter is just an overlong description of the gentleman's ruined castle, and is not representative of the cloak-and-dagger of the rest of the novel.

Huh, interesting. Thanks, I'll have to remember that. :) (don't worry, I once read the unedited [translated] Hunchback of Notre Dame, and if I can sit through the sidelines about architecture in that one, I feel like I can take anything. :) )

You're tougher than me -- I was able to get past the architecture in the first chapter, but then Gringoire met Esmeralda and I went "GAAAH! VICTOR HUGO, I HATE YOUR CHARACTERS!@". And put the book down. And to say I was on a Hugo roll, having just read Ninety-three.
