it's been a good day
So this morning after waking up at 7, giving Weston a bottle and making Amelia some waffles, I was able to go back to sleep with Weston cuddled beside me until 10am! It's a miracle. I haven't slept like that in ages. Doug took Amelia with him on his morning errands. I love my girl to death, but it was nice having a break from her.
I took only Weston grocery shopping with me and he's at the perfect age for grocery shopping. Big enough to sit in the cart and small enough to not have tantrums. He smiled and made noises and charmed everyone we passed. It was probably one of my most enjoyable grocery store visits as of late.
I also did a good job with my WIC choices and I only had one item that wasn't WIC approved. Seriously, it's so difficult to figure out what's covered by the checks and what's not. Baby food is especially hard, and I was so proud of myself that I didn't get a single jar that wasn't WIC approved.
Speaking of baby food, Weston is all about it. I've also been giving him whole foods to gnaw on, and he seems to like them too. Kid loves peas (yuck!), squash & sweet potatoes, especially. Bananas make him barf, so he's not getting those anymore. I can't believe what a big boy he is already.
I'm loving the age Amelia's at, too. The tantrums are tapering off, she's talking a lot, learning a lot, and a joy to be around. She's so imaginative and silly. She likes to put random things on her head and call it a hat. I tell her "That's not a hat!" and she insists that it is. Tonight at dinner, she put a chicken nugget on her head and called it a hat. What a nut. I swear she doesn't only eat chicken nuggets, by the way.
She's learning her colors, but everything is always pink when I first ask her. She has quite a few songs memorized that she likes to sing with me. We have singing time several times a day where she requests certain songs. Elmo's song and Skinamarinky dinky dink are her favorites right now. I just love that little girl.
My kids are at my favorite combined ages at this time. 6 months + 21 months = best combination, so far.
