Remind myself that it's not selfish to make time to exercise, and things that need to get done will get done, even if I spend an hour on "frivolous" things like exercise.

I mentioned frugality as a value when I was talking to a friend recently, and it reminded me of the fact that while there's a lot of info out there about how to be frugal, there's not as much about why. So, I'm feeling rather ashamed of myself that I've just now sort of unpacked and examined a stereotype/prejudice I didn't really consciously realize I had: that gay men are apolitical.

Lesbians? Sure, I expect them to be politically active.

But, come on, Sarah, there were gay men at Stonewall, and you don't get too much more political than that!

Sometimes I just have to cross my fingers and hope people - especially the ones who know me best - find my fumbling and bumbling to be endearing or at least amusing, instead of annoying.

I'm trying to excise the word "retarded" from my vocabulary as an all-purpose insult or synonym for "stupid." I've seen some discussions online about why it's offensive to some people-- similar to the reason a lot of people aren't really crazy about the use of the term "that's so gay" to mean "that's so stupid and/or corny."
