I spent the morning taking my grandma from her Dr.'s appointment in North Raleigh back to my parents' house in Knightdale, where I spent a little time with her and then shared a leisurely lunch.

While there I caught up with an old friend, my little buddy Levi. He is as handsome and as precocious as he ever was.

Levi is very angry at me. Don't think I'm imagining this; cats will let you know when they're angry at you. You see, I have an old parakeet that for obvious reasons stays with my parents. I come home from work, and Levi is waiting for me, exactly as I expect him to be. I take off my clothes, and get into bed and snuggle into the corner, finding the most recently folded-down corner of The Bell Jar after a relatively long day and only one drink after work. I don't think I'll ever have a relationship with a human as fulfilling as the one with Levi, because I simply cannot fathom waking up and seeing someone's little face in mine and feeling the need to belt out loudly Hey Good Lookin', Whatcha Got Cookin' the way that it gets belted out over here in 202 every morning. I just don't see it happening.

Also, Levi has a new development. He opens his mouth and makes an almost screeching noise. I don't know if he learned this from the animal planet channel or what, but it's got to go.

My Weekend of the 4th was so appropriately trashy it was picture-perfect. My studio is old enough (the house it's in was built in the 1930s) that while the stove is not original, it runs on gas.
