  1.   If I had all of the money in the world, that would mean everybody else would have no money, and the world would be completely different and I wouldn’t be able to spend it because the only person who would find worth to it would be me- and I’d probably end up miserable because my friends would be complaining about having no money and so I would try to distribute it out so I could enjoy it with other people …… oy. Having all the money in the world would be very stressful.
  2. Many people today value money, and Midas values money- so I think the playwright was trying to make a point that the society today is very greedy and can eventually lead to the greedy persons downfall.
  3. Midas has trouble remembering what he does all of his work for- he forgets his family.
  4. Silenus is the drunken man. He knows a special place where people live forever and love each other and don’t think about all of the money issues that Midas is talking about.
  5. Bacchus offers Midas a gift because he took care of his follower, Silenus and had the kindness to not let him drown.
  6. Midas wishes that everything he touches will turn to gold. He doesn’t realize the consequences- he doesn’t realize that his greed could make him lose his family- make his daughter turn to gold.
  7. Bacchus says Midas must go to the end of the earth and find a pool that reflects the stars at night and wash his hands in it.

ALCYONE AND CEYX
  1. Alcyone’s father was a member of the crew and she knows the power of the strong winds which could potentially rock and sink the boat, and drown Ceyx on his voyage.
  2. Alcyone and Ceyx are so in love that they feel as though their separation would be the most dreadful thing in the world.
  1. The actors and narrator start to talk in more frightened tones, and there are descriptions of how terrible the storm is.
  2. Ceyx prays to the gods to wash him ashore to Alcyone’s feet.
  3. Alcyone occupies her waiting with counting to 100 and sleeping by the sea shore.
  4. Aphrodite can’t handle watching Alcyone suffer, so she wants her to have a dream to understand her husband’s fate.
  5. Iris visits Sleep, who has the power to sooth souls, and heals bodies and minds.
  6. Alcyone is very distraught and cannot believe that he has died- she runs to him and tries to kiss him.
  7. Ceyx’s body transforms into a bird, and hers does, too.
  8. She said earlier in the script that she is “drowning on land” as he “drown in the sea” and birds are neither on land or sea, they fly in the sky, free, and as birds, Alcyone and Ceyx can be together without the thought of land or sea- only sky.
  9.  Halcyon days are the seven days of calm upon the seas- that Aeolus, Alcyone’s father, gives for them.
