Genevieve "Gen" Poythress Player, 69 of Sumter, formally of Orangeburg passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2008. She was the daughter of the late Horace C. Poythress and Thelma Wilson Poythress of Cayce, SC. She was preceded in death by husband, William "Bill" C. Player.
Mrs. Player was a graduate of Brooklyn Cayce High School Class of 1956 and a graduate of Columbia College.
She is survived by three sons, William (Carol) C. Player, Jr. of Bishopville, Travis H. Player of Sumter, formally of Orangeburg and W. Ashley Player of Orangeburg; four daughters Mrs. Mary (David) Shoemaker of Sumter, Mrs. Laura (Travis) Travis of Rockmart, GA, Ms. Katherine "Kathy" Hill of Vance, and Ms. Wendy Player of Sumter; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Player is also survived by her brother, H.C. (Brenda) Poythress Jr. of Richmond, VA. She has many nieces and nephews
