What's everybody watching?

Mostly I'm out of step with a lot of people who watch things like Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad (now over). I've never seen an episode of either. Here are some shows I still follow:

1. Justified (I think it's on F/X): more for the characters, who were created in the mind of the late Elmore Leonard. The main character, Deputy Marshall Raylan Givens, is superbly played by Timothy Oliphant. He's likeable, with an subtle but powerful sense of humor. This show can be very violent at times, something I'm not fond of, but the characters and writing make up for it. The show's arch villain Boyd Crowder is also such an interesting character, played by Walton Goggins. It's finished five seasons of 13 episodes each, and next season, which begins in January, will be the last.

2. Supernatural (I think it's on WB, or whatever the call it now): This is this generation's X-Files, except the heroes are two cute brothers, involved in a war with angels and demons, with all kinds of other supernatural monsters thrown in for good measure. This series has just wrapped up its 9th year and next year will be its last.

3. Bones: this is another show that I've been watching since its inception, probably about 7 or 8 years ago. Once again it's more character driven than plot driven. Emily Deschannel plays Dr. Temperance Brennan, a very cerebral, logical, left-brained forensic pathologist and David Boreanaz plays Seely Booth, her husband, and the FBI agent. Dr. Brennan works with the Jeffersonian Institute (a fictionalized version of the Smithsonian) and it's a crime show that also follows the lives of its characters. It's based on the novels of Kathy Reichs.

4. Arrow: this show is just finishing off season two. It's based on the Green Arrow comics that I read as a kid. Sometimes the writing is bad, but there's lots of eye candy including Stephen Amell, who plays the title character.

Otherwise, we still watch the Daily Show, and I still watch Saturday Night Live, and I think that's pretty much it for my mindless TV viewing.

I haven't seen QAF for years, but I'd like to watch some of it again. The pilot episode is my favourite. The writing in the later seasons used to bug me because in one episode Brian would have an endless supply of money and in the next he would almost be broke. That never made sense to me.

Good topic!

How strange, Kern. I don't watch ANY of the programs you mention.. I know that they're there but that's about it.
Strqngely (for me) I've avoided the Daily Show (and the Colbert Report as well). I have always found Stewart
predictable and there no real artfujl comedy in what de does. I love The Good Wife.. Murdered Will lives around
the corner from me and goes to my gym. He tells me he's fine.
More later.. In the meantime watch The Bletchly File on PBS..
Love

You're so lucky living where you do. I wish I could convince Seth to visit or live in Manhattan. I'd love to spend a month there in the summer and see the things you see.

Of course the writing in the later seasons bugged you. You're a man of taste and discrimination.. We had to suspend all
disbelief to... hang in there. But most of us did, including you
Next week Kukla, Fran and Ollie.. Are you with me?
Much love
