today was a fairly good day minus the fucking hotness there was in the firestone kitchen today. it made for some funny moments, but since i don't remember a good chunk of the day, i think we all walked around in a sort of fog all day. at dinner we were all too hot to do anything besides eat some food and wipe the sweat with our napkins. it was so unbearable to be in the kitchen that we actually got up from dinner early. fucking coal stoves and their super heating capabilities (for now. in december i'll be singin a different tune).
its funny how the first day where you're really super hot, you end up thinking that you have never sweated that much or been that hot in your entire life. how easily we forget how many other summers you've survived. i feel pretty good considering and i'm glad i don't feel like i want to barf my brains out.
today i did have an interesting encounter at the gas station. i was waiting in line to pay in all my 1880s farm fashionable glory, and i had a woman start questioning the meaning behind my garb. she asked if it had any significance. i was really caught off guard to be asked about my weird look so nicely, but i realize she was trying to make sure she didn't offend me. it was sweet. this is unlike all of those people that say "hey, you amish?" and make absolutely no effort to disguise the fact that they're staring at you like you have some kind of horrible deformity. ah well.
the last couple days have been filled with sewing. i'm pretty proud of myself. i've always wanted to sew and i haven't really had the most patience with it because it is so tedious. yesterday in about 5 hours i got about 2/3 of the way done with my chemise. that was some complicated stuff too. today i got a little farther with some help from mom. i only have a few more steps to take care of, including one huge ass gathering session and i'll be done. hopefully that won't take too long and i can start on my drawers.
maybe i'll try to sew things more often.
i need to wash some yarn as well. my afghan has been sadly neglected lately. i don't know how much i want to touch it though. 100% merino wool yarn + 90 degree heat = insanity
i just found out that i have next weekend off (yesss!). that means no working motor muster. that is miraculous. saturday i really needed off anyway because its the day andy moves home and we get to go see oasis. i'm pretty pumped.
now its time to root on the pistons
