The Crux
The Crux is finally over :)
It's been a long five day slog in Hreod, entertaining between 20-40 YPs, but now it's all over I'm on such a high. The last two days of the programme went off really well. Numbers were well down, as a lot of the students, I suspsect were clinging on to their last days of easter hols, and skiving off. But it was great to see the old faces back again from last term. Yesterday was good fun with some manic games, some parachute games and a huuuge amount of newspaper used up. We spent one session working through a Rock Solid Programme on Newspapers. We got a really good chance to chat through why bad stuff happens in the world.
And then today was FANTASTIC. The Rock Solid programme was on War and Peace (the issue, not the book lol). It was really cool to get to chat through with them about why wars happen, whether they're all bad. But the best bit was when we got to bring the issue a bit closer to home and talk through a little of the 'inter-school gang mentality' in Swindon. Like, just getting to share a bit about working with the other guys in other schools, and make a point on how, really, they're all SO alike, was so cool. It was a real privelege to get to work through that a bit with them.
So in the end, everything has panned out really great in Hreod. And it's fantastic because the links it's built up with the school are really positive. And when we get back in to run the lunchclub for years 7-8, there' about 20 of them we have really great relationship with. On top of all this, for me, the great thing personally, was having the Deputy Head come in to say thanks, and just telling me that if I ever need a glowing reference that i should just ask :D How cool is that!?
This programme has SO definitely been the most stressful and exhausting thing of the whole year, but it's been the thing that's taught me the most and just SUCH an achievement. I'm buzzing!! lol
So tonight it's off to Live and Loud and hopefully some of the guys from today will be coming along, which is very cool :) So I'm gonna go and chill out for a bit before starting up again. Thanks for the messages from Jenny and Fairy, *hugs* :D
