Episode Notes: due South "Chicago Holiday, part 1"

Jan 14, 2007 15:41

This is the first set of notes I've done for episodes I haven't seen before. My husband and I skipped this episode when we were watching about a year ago. He has an extreme embarrassment squick and this seemed like it was just going to set that off, so we skipped past it ( Read more... )

I'm happy when I watch this show, so now just the *credits* make me happy.

They do that to me too! It's a tendency with all the shows I fall in love with, but especially the ones with fun clips and decent music.

I'm so glad it's not just me. I was feeling exceedingly dorky because of it. :)

~Lovely beginning to the ep. Love half-dressed Fraser talking to Dief. Loved Dief’s whining, Fraser claiming that he only started talking to Dief out of sheer boredom, and Dief’s reaction to all of Fraser’s suggestions! *g ( ... )

Not only is Fraser pretty, I love the theme song.

Yay!! I'm not so much of a dork as I thought I was. :)

~Nah, the Dad’s not skeezy, but we’re supposed to realize, I think, that he just doesn’t make time for his daughter because of work, and therefore feel slightly sympathetic to her plight.Oh, fair enough. It didn't work. I've got no sympathy for 16 at all. Poor little rich girl wanting to be grown up when she's just a kid--feh on her ( ... )

Everyone keeps pointing that out about CH. Less Fraser and Ray together. You know, I never noticed.

I totally noticed it--and in one of the two scenes they had together, they were at odds with one another. During that whole thing with Fraser getting busted at the leather bar, Ray didn't really say one friendly thing to Fraser. ::ooks to self again::

I hope they actually interact in part 2.

I find the musical moving matchbook kinda annoying but I deal.

It does take a fair amount of attention to remember where it is and what it's doing. And a fair amount of suspension of disbelief that the matchbook and 16 are staying in such close proximity after she's not carrying it anymore.

I do remember the first time I watched this laughing so hard at the leather Mountie being undercover sting cop.

That I *loved* for a wide variety of reasons. It definitely made me laugh out loud...a minor problem since I watch these at the Starbucks.

I'm getting kind of fond of Ray's grumbling. Only now!? :DEr, yeah, it's taken me a while. It took a ( ... )

Christina (aka 16) has to be the most annoying person on the face of this (fictional) Earth. Every time I watch this ep, I want to slap her back into the stone age. Self-centered, shortsighted, ignorant, spoiled little ho. Her pop deserves a good sock in the jaw for raising such a moron.

And what kind of 16 year-old does not have a crush on Fraser?! I mean, she's so stupid she's GOT to have hormones. Or maybe you have to have at least two functioning neurons to find Fraser attractive, and she's only got one controlling her motor skills.

However, Fraser getting busted is one of the funniest scenes ever. ^^ Ah, Ray. Heavy is the burden of being you.

No kidding!! She's just such a little brat and doing this Poor Little Rich Girl "My daddy doesn't love me" crap which is just driving me *nuts*!!

Oh, God, I was so thinking that!! If I were 16 and given *Fraser* to be my escort chaperone for a day, there's no way I'd have been trying to ditch him. He'd have been scraping me off his arm with a putty knife.

I loved him letting everyone else on to the bus first until Ray just *snapped* and shouted at him. Poor Ray, so upset!

Oh, yeah. That would have been THE best present EVER -- a total hottie who would take me to the opera (love those soaring vocals) for free. My response would not have been, "Daddy doesn't love me," but, "I have the most perfect father on the whole planet." *grin*

I wouldn't have been so much for the opera at 16 (though, now, YEAH) but getting escorted around a museum by an absolutely gorgeous man who would be able to talk about the exhibits and be paying attention to me for hours.

Damn, yeah!!

She gets *worse*!! ::boggles::

This is one pf those episodes that I'm not all that keen on because it keeps Fraser and Ray apart too much.

I am *so* with you on that! And I'm *hating* Fraser getting bested by the little brat. Ray's shining though, so good on him!

Fraser in the leather bar leads ,e to wonder - how niave is he? Does he know what the place is? Does he have some grasp of what it is?

Very, very good questions. Very good questions. His answer to the sub who wanted to be punished was so perfect for someone who didn't want to get involved, it makes me feel like he knew exactly what was going on and shut it down. But it could also have been just naivete and he really *doesn't* have any idea what the place is about.

I think it could be argued either way.

There are some good moments with Welsh too and I do like him and Ray peeping at Fraser.

His dancing in leather underwear line was one of the best things *ever*!

At several points I want to slap her upside the head.

Ray to the rescue! Yeah see if it wasn't for the murder I bet Ray would accompany Fraser and not tolerate any crap from Christina.

Thank you.

I do too. I tend to sit on the fence and think he has an inkling what it is about but his focus is on finding Christina so he does perhaps approach it slightly niavely perhaps assuming the taxi driver wouldn't take a 16 year old to a BDSM club.

No kidding. This chaperone gig would have gone much better with Ray there--he'd have been a little more relaxed than Fraser, in terms of maybe taking the girl some place fun, but he's used to having younger people around so I think he'd have been much better at it than Ray.

I prefer part 2 and IMHO part 1 is the weaker of the two. More Ray in part 2 :-)

More Ray is definitely going to be more better. :)
