Episode Notes: Riptide "The Mean Green Love Machine"

Oct 25, 2006 23:41

I got to watch and take notes on a Riptide episode tonight. This is a *delightful* episode offering many wonderful things--Cody and Nick scared for Murray. Stalwart Murray withstanding torture to keep Cody and Nick safe. Murray's hands! And everyone's as gorgeous as always!

This may be the first batch of screencaps I've gotten from a Riptide ( Read more... )

Love these recaps! Very funny descriptions of the action. And I cannot say it too often - they look really good in shorts. Please, fashion, please bring back these shorts.

Yeah, I miss the tight (and *short*) shorts. :) At least on the pretty guys.

Thanks for commenting! I'm glad you enjoyed!

I confess to having a passing interest in Starsky & Hutch myself. When I was at Zcon last, I saw several songvids and was mightily intrigued. (As it happened, I went away with Sentinel in the end, rather than SH).

I'm mostly daunted by the prospect of yet another show to spend money or angst trying to get ahold of to see. Is it even out on DVD, yet?

I'm finding that I DO prefer to take on fandoms for which the canon is a closed entity. I'm in House fandom, and as much as I enjoy the suspense, I really hate knowing that any moment TPTB could blow my pet fantasies right out of the water or add in something totally icky. Or it could just ramble on endlessly making a mess of itself like ER seems to have done.

Cancelled shows give you a complete package. ;) Or in Starsky's case, a completely obvious package

I agree with you *totally* about taking on fandoms with a closed canon--I love CSI and Numb3rs, but I'm not especially fannish about them because they're pretty much still an unknown entity. Anything could happen, so I can't see the whole picture of what I'd be writing about. And when I fall into a fandom, I fall *hard*. I don't want TPTB turning on me.

At least the first 3 seasons of S&H are available on DVD. That may be all of it, I just don't know. It seemed like it was always on when I was a kid (I used to watch with my mom when I was small), but that might just be a childish memory thing.

Certainly, I've got my little fannish hands plenty busy with The Sentinel and Riptide and probably shouldn't be falling in love with anyone else. But OMG they're so *cuddly*, and so much in love, and they *talk* about it. *Swoon*

And, yeah, Starsky's package. And Hutch has a great smile. I do miss those tight pants.

That's the thing about S&H - it nearly defines slash. In fact, a pal of mine actually USES it to define slash:

Newbie: Slash? What's that?

Pal: Well, we like to think about the characters of any given show as if they were...a couple you know?

Newbie: Huh?

Pal: Ok, remember Starsky & Hutch?

Newbie: OHHHH....I see what you mean now!

So yeah, I kind of find myself wanting to dive into a show that's THAT blatant with the slash.

Shall we make an expedition then into the land of S&H? Venture forth in search of cute guys blatantly in love with one another? Arm in arm into the breach and all that. :)

It might be fun just to venture in completely *fresh*. Watch the episodes with no preconceptions and no intro to the fandom at all.

I have no idea of the fanon (at all) and very little idea of the canon except that they love each other like woah. (And they had a red car and when I was seven I liked the arm reaching out and putting the flashing light on top of it. That was my favorite part of every episode.) :)

If you could get the DVDs (maybe from Netflix if you don't want to buy them), we could watch an episode together (chatting online) and see how it goes.

(I love your friend using S&H to explain slash. :) That's awesome.)
