so the half-planned "girls-and-nick-only movie night" didn't end up happening. instead of watching "when harry met sally" and "love actually" and "dirty dancing", a bunch of us watched "rocky horror picture show" in nick's living room. close enough. there are seriously no words to describe that movie. and yes, i was a rocky horror virgin before last night. the best part was easily, "janet!" "brad!" "rocky!", although wondering how i can ever watch susan sarandon in "little women" again after this was pretty amusing. also, that movie must have seriously altered my mind, because it took me hours, until i was home later that night, to "get" the whole medusa-stone thing. ::pats self on the back::
yesterday was one of the most relaxing days i've had in a long time. i woke up late and spent most of the day home alone, watching the snow, listening to quiet songs, and reading "the history of love" by nicole krauss. i know that title makes it sound like the book is the sappy-tear-stained mother of all gross, pathetic romance novels, but it's really, really not. it's this amazingly original story by the wife of my favorite author ever (jonathan safran foer!!!), about this old man who wrote a book when he was young and doesn't realize that it got published and changed lives and...yeah. i'm not done with it yet.
i wouldn't be alive today if it weren't for lauren driving me to school for wind quintet rehearsal in ten degree weather! mary grace, jared, kaeleigh (spelling?), lauren, kalabza, and i all crammed into kalabza's office (yes, office), and "dance of the buffoons" (yes, "dance of the buffoons") sounded pretty good, for what i assume to be nobody practicing it yet. then lauren and i went to mcdonalds, got lost, and got to bridget's for an SO meeting.
i hope all these little snow flurries mean that we'll have a good snowstorm soon, as long as there's not too much wind. yesterday was good snow, the kind where the flakes act like drunken insects that have no idea where to go so they just kind of drift down and into each other. i will continue to pray for more drifting-drunken-insect flakes.
