you are a complicated multidimensional object. How many facets do you have? I can count 7 and that is just the ones that I've seen today. The problem is that you can only keep one facing forward at a time. You can bounce between them quickly but sooner or later some of them are going to end up underused and will just fold back into the center, into fading memory. The nice thing is that, with the barriers down, a steady stream of information can beat deformities into the forward side. After a while these deformities become their own well defined facet.
So what happens when we get too close to that looming asymptote? When we start to approach a time when human information isn't doubling every 50 years but is doubling every 5 minutes. That will be a very interesting day for a lot of people. Who needs atom bombs for some old-timey apocalypse?
