Every single time I mail a greeting card to someone, no matter what the occasion, I have to do a run-through. Once it's written out, and after the to/return addresses are filled out, but before I seal it and put the stamp on (the stamp is always the very last), I have to put the card into the envelope, take it back out, open it and read it

That is awesome! I love it. On all cards and letters I always do a rough draft first before writing on the "official" document.

I do this, too! I've screwed up one too many cards back in my day.
