Every single time I mail a greeting card to someone, no matter what the occasion, I have to do a run-through. Once it's written out, and after the to/return addresses are filled out, but before I seal it and put the stamp on (the stamp is always the very last), I have to put the card into the envelope, take it back out, open it and read it thoroughly, as if I were the person receiving it. I pretend it's the first time I've seen it, because I have know what the recipient's experience is going to be/look like before I can send it. Sometimes I do it more than once, just to be sure that I approve.
*facepalm*
