Help! My dorky side is showing...
Well, at least I know I'm not the only one with geeky interests. I'm really missing events. I'm also getting a few people together to enter Golden Swan. It's a larger project but I'm really excited about it. I'm feeling all bubbly and energetic about it.
Cheryl came down yesterday from Calgary and I spent yesterday basking in the glow of my past. It was nice to talk about friends and experiences from years ago. I had missed it lately. then drove her and her man to Oliver so I ended up missing my previous engagement to go out with my friends from work. :( I'll have to talk to them.
I was able to visit with Tracy which I also had been missing. You know friend that you can talk to and you don't even have to use full sentences or even full words because you both know what you're talking about? Well that's Tracy.

I thought it would be neat to have a "group" of women enter with personas from different cultures portraying "prostitutes". I'm going to do a venetian courtesan, I think Patti is going to do a harem girl, someone else was going to do a wench, etc.
Current situation:
Tracy wants to do an Italian midwife instead of a courtesan which is still cool. And Cheryl might do a Florentine Noble woman which would show the contrast of the Courtesan in Venice to the noble woman in another part of Italy during the same time period. I'd really like to get a woman to do an Italian courtesan (Just to show the differences in freedoms and lifestyles) and I need to find an attendant. The attendant would also be an entrant. They would demonstrate the more "servant" side of life in Venice. It would make a great contrast to the Venetian Courtesan.
Additional Support:
Because of the nature of the competition, each entrant needs to have a support person. Someone that would help them get dressed (if required), act as a go-for, and act as a buffer (Because you are in persona for the whole weekend, it helps to have someone that is with you that can talk to your friends for you that might not know that you are supposed to be in "character". They basically keep the mundane world away so that you can focus on being in character.)
The thing about having all 7 ladies enter is that we can all work together to help each other with our research, documentation, as well as helping with the categories before and during the competition. We all have our own strengths and weaknesses and if we all work together I think it'll make for a stronger competition. :)
So, We've decided that we'll compete by 2010 at the latest. We want everyone to make sure that they are ready and if even one person isn't, then we all wait.
So now I'm working on my Venetian Persona's information. I have to have some more info on political and social history to narrow a lot of details down but I think we can do it.
