benefits

I'm finally beginning to feel comfortable in my skin after having lost 65 pounds. It's taking a while. I was quite comfortable being fat, in some ways. I've gone through months of feeling more and more exposed and it's been an adjustment. I joined OA to gain some sanity and clarity about my relationship with food. I've also gained a really sweet and very practical spiritual path in the 12 steps. Another benefit is that I've lowered my cholesterol tremendously. It's down to 121 which is considered low/healthy range. Docs currently want cholesterol to be ideally 100 or lower LDL. I'm on my way there. But being under 130 is considered safe and healthy so I'm happy with this progress. It's something I didn't even really think about and I am pretty sure it has a lot to do with jogging and working out and increasing muscle/decreasing fat. I'm not sure how it all works but this basically means that my potential for heart problems, stroke, etc. is much lower. My blood pressure is also normal which is great.

So, unless I get hit by the proverbial bus, I suppose this all means that I'm going to live to be a cool, wrinkly old bat. Hooray!

I had a wonderful weekend at the ocean with my sisters. B came over last night when I came home and we had supper at Columbia City Ale house and then she slept over. I'm trying to navigate what's the most comfortable way for me to actually sleep with someone again after having been single for so long. It's a journey. A nice one though.

Matthew invited me to join him and Barbara to see Wall-E on Friday night but I'm going to be out on the houseboat. I'm happy about the houseboat part but a bit bummed about the Wall-E part because they would be two very fun humans to see that movie with. Oh well, we have some fun stuff scheduled for early July (movie club and also a visit from Matthew and the two cute baby cats here at the house).

Must go save the world from high interest rates now. RAWR!
