So what is it with England?

Is there just more alien/supernatural/alternative reality stuff that happens there? Why didn't S&S ever venture to another country? Even Dr. Who managed to get to the US now and again.

They do refer to having been on the Mary Celeste dont they? So that might indicate New York and the Atlantic - maybe they're just systematically working their way around the globe and this just happens to be the England phase. It never seems to me like they're even in London, always that it's the West Country/Midlands area.

Ah, but I said England, not London. Mary Celeste was mentioned in passing, but she could have been anywhere, including a port in England.

Because the documentary records were first broadcast in England and it was assumed that the viewers would not be interested in assignments that had taken place in other countries, in other eras or on other planets.

Yes. I can't go to the supermarket without time trying to eat the carrots and finding the baked beans are haunted. It's such a nuisance. ;-)

(More seriously, perhaps particular Elements tackle particular locations, and Sapphire and Steel tend to get the UK?)

I think having a pre-assigned section would make sense.

We certainly have our fair share of unexplained activity to warrant two elemental agents spending a lot of their assignment time in our country, we're an old country, so we hve a lot of history, which could equate to a lot of ghosts and errors in time, I guess.

I hadn't thought of different elements being assigned to different countries, but I like that theory a lot and it would make sense.
