When I got out of bed this morning, it was to a headache and exhaustion. I was fine after Ibfopen and a little mixture of rum, honey, and green tea. The little mixture was suggested by Kim last night to get rid of the mucus clouding up my vocal cords. Although it tasted horrible because of the rum, I thought it worked. I was coughing up mucus all day. However, I mentioned the mixture to Mama and she said that it was an old wives' tale. Huh. I was also surprised because I had a realization. I can get everclear down without any problems, but I struggle with rum and vodka. It was a little fun drinking alcohol, even the little I had, three hours before school. I felt a little tipsy as I was eating breakfast and had difficulties on focusing on "Probation, Diverson, and Pretrial Services", but that was all. The German, Irish, and Native American blood are doing their service this time. It was a little funny too that in Juvenile Justice, we discussed juveniles and alcohol.
Anyway, the day turned out to be one unexpected moment after the next. After another driver got pissed that he couldn't go fast because I got into a lane at the same time as he did, he glared at me. So I stuck my tongue out at him. That behavior was unexpected. I can get road rage and cuss up a storm that would have my coworkers wonder where I learned all of the words. They are surprise whenever I cuss cause I hardly ever do it. Then I finished two assignment textbook readings today. Prolific, I know.
When I got to karate, the unexpectedness continued to grow. Both Sensei Mark and Frankie tested over the weekend and passed. They are now wearing the white and black gee mixture. I didn't even know that they were testing! Then Sensei Mark asked me to do Pinan Three with my eyes closed. I somehow ended up at an angle. I also discovered that reality takes a new perspective with your eyes closed as you are doing forms. It was hard to keep my balance. Mary also came and she's coming back on Wednesday, so that's a sign that she enjoyed it, right? I was just a little apologetic that she started when the dojo is preparing for tournament. Finally, the event that wins the unexpected reward was that I received my blue belt testing slip this evening. I was totally not expecting that until after the tournament and was completely shocked. Not that I wished for it sooner, but I have no power in saying when I'm ready or not. I have an opinion, but most of the time, that does not count.
