Torchwood Season 4

New Torchwood! I'm actually feeling optimistic about it now, exactly the opposite of what I felt when Fox was looking at it. I'm still wary of what disasters RTD might cause, especially since it sounds like they're still hoping to make the new series more like COE than like seasons 1 and 2, but I'm willing to cross my fingers and hope for the best ( Read more... )

I don't think we'll see Rhys at all.

Yeah, I suspect you're right on that, but I'll keep hoping as long as I can.

But we DID see Harriet killed...

Nope, we didn't actually. Well, unless you have a different version on DVD that I haven't seen, which I suppose is possible. They aimed directly at her, then we saw one of them aim its weapon off to the side (presumably at her computer station), then we switch to Martha watching the laptop and see Harriet's transmission cut off -- but all we see is broken-camera static. No x-ray effect, and the last time we see Harriet she's alive and well and telling the Daleks that they underestimate humans. I think I remember hearing that TPTB have said something about her definitely being dead, but we don't actually see it, so in a world of fluctuating timelines, I'm not gonna give up on her. *g*

Also, you made me watch "Stolen Earth" again, you evil woman. Such a hardship, that I'd only endure in dire extremity. I mean, it's not like I've already seen it half a dozen times and only need the slightest reminder that it exists to rush off and watch it again. :-D

As for that Bab5 guy... just go with JMS. I do. It's safer than trying to spell it. *g*

Have you been watching the new DW eps? I know I'll get to them eventually, just wondering if they're good enough that I should make keeping up with them a priority as opposed to waiting until the last minute before Season 4 TW airs to catch up on the continuity.

Crap...now I'm going to have to re-watch it ...my turn for the hardship, LOL!
I HAVE been watching the new Who episodes, been torrenting them after the UK showing so I get them uncut by BBCA and I'm a week or two up. I don't really care for him I like Amy (she reminds me of Donna) although I don't even like Amy half as much as Rory. The Doctor and Vincent was cute (and the actor was a dead ringer for VanGogh) but so far none of the episodes are all that great except for the Hungry Earth (and I won't go into WHY that made me cry in case you dont want spoilers) but personally...NOW after that one (unless this Saturday's does something to impress me) I really have lost the taste for him. This past Saturdays was terrible...like it was written by a fangirl and the Doctor was her MarySue.
Tennant's Doctor had so much humanity and this one...is just weird and I don't think it helps the character. If he were human...he'd be in a facility somewhere. It's not attractive and not "alien"...he's nothing like ANY of the others...and the 'crazy' isnt cute like Five's post regeneration weirdness. He may grow on me...I've loved 2,3,4,5 (hated 6)7, 9 and 10 so my tendency is to find some quirk to latch on to. But this one...I don't think so...was it that Tennant was just that good and this one is not as good an actor?? I dont know.
So far there's no need to worry as there seems to be NO continuity at all...not even a nod to any other Doctors, companions or anything else. The only thing they have in common is a sonic screwdriver. If my sister did not demand we see the 'new episode' each week I would not even bother at all with torrents. BBCA cant hurt these epsisodes because they're terrible...IMHO.

Hmm. That's not reassuring -- or maybe it is, if it means I can keep trying to catch up with the House eps I missed before downloading the new Who ones! I really don't like Ten, so in my mind, 11 would have a really hard time being worse than him, but I also have a sucky connection and not much of a hard drive, so downloading decent-quality eps is a hassle and a half, and not something I'm eager to do for a so-so season. Still, I do prefer to avoid spoilers -- and the longer the series goes on, the harder that's going to be, so I probably shouldn't wait too long. But as long as I know I'm not missing something wonderful, it can wait another month or two. Thanks!
