*HUGS* to all my dear friends! I am indeed alive and well and wish all of you a very happy New Year and wonderful 2008. I hope this year has treated you well and the next will be even better. As for me 2007 has been a year of ups and downs, to the extreme in some cases, and I never thought that at the beginning of this year I would be where I'm at now. So as is tradition, here is the rundown of my
Going into this year I had a bad feeling. I felt a lot of loss would happen and while some did, it wasn't as bad as my first thoughts conveyed. Until May the year was good. I went to Minneapolis to visit friends and see a great actor on stage, took 29 6-8th graders to Washington D.C., I kept my job, and on May 18th signed a contract to have a townhome built for me. Unfortunately the next day one of my 8th grade students was killed in a car accident. I have never delt with loss like that before. It was horrible and being the school counselor and taking care of the kids and community was difficult. There is still much pain for everyone involved. I can't imagine how her family survived the holiday season, but life must go on. In June I went to Las Vegas with some friends which was much fun, but I lost my beloved dog Dakota. I miss him very much every day. He was a wonderful dog and I am blessed that we had him for 8 years. July I went back to Mass. which was fun as always though without a good friend this time. But I met several new people and fun was certainly had. The school year started off very rocky, and actually still is. Work has not been the best, but I am managing. At the end of August I met James, I wonderful man who I am extremely lucky to have in my life. On September 7th we were talking in a parking lot and a man came up to us with a gun and demanded the car. Thankfully he left without the car and no one was hurt, at least physically. It was extremely difficult but brought James and I closer together and we have really been joined at the hip every since. On Novemeber 29th I closed on my house and moved in. James moved in with me and things for the last month have been great. My brother had surgery to correct his jaw in November and is still recovering from it but hopefully he will be better than new. My dad just had surgery on his knees last Friday and so far is getting along fine. Thankfully his heart is looking good which is a blessing. The other bad thing is my uncle was diagnosed with brain cancer. I am not sure of his prognosis but from what I have been told it isn't very good.
My hope is that 2008 is filled with much more of the good and the bad will be not so bad. I know I will be able to face whatever comes and I wish all the best to all of you. *hugs* Happy New Year!
