not proper haiku

even bones perish
mute, you walk this sleeping earth
beneath your feet, steam

wander marked and skinless
no scar outlives forgetting
speechless little wonder
the night will be your voice

fade to schism
rain and clacking trees, a song
for two crows vanishing

we are frail but
story remembers

grinning sky riddles
croaking birds and singing frogs
strained cheshire cat world

blackbird rising
eyes like broken mirrors

nine braids, bound to flow
open hands, embrace the sky
snow is the smell of blood
our children catch it on their tongues

shed your grace
leave me to the insects
biting flies and
tatterdemalion splendor

bones devoured, you and I like
moth wings in rain

no man an island
so they say
lost in fata morgana
my name is frithgeard

swallow the sun and
we will persist
no light truly extinguished

these words like thistles
our earth lies dead but dreaming
pray with the work of your hands
