I have seen the Gateway to Oblivion...at a BP.

Why do I even bother waking up in the morning? Every day, I get up, shower, dress and go out into the world to be confronted by stupidity, arrogance, ignorance, and selfishness. I was accosted at a gas station on my way to work today by a man who asked for any spare change I might have. This man was wearing dirty, torn clothes and smelled of sour ( Read more... )

of course you both would agree with him. none of you have ever had what most would consider a hard life. so getting a job for you all is almost nothing especially considering you all lilve with your parents. but some people do not have it so easy and, for some, it takes a great deal of strength to HAVE to ask for a handout. yes there are those that abuse the system, but you have to keep in mind that a homeless man or woman with tattered clothes and so forth is gonna have a much harder time getting a job at kroger than a middle class kid looking for an afterschool job.

Shelters have showers. Goodwill has decent clothes anyone can afford. And I resent your attitude that we should feel guilty that we are middle class.

i never said that you should feel guilty, but appreciate your good fortune since obviously many people are not as lucky as you guys, and not attack those who are in hard times looking for a little help. that's all. and don't resent me for putting forth a different point of view.

I dont resent you for having a different point of view. I don't resent you at all. I must have misread your comment but the overall impression I got was that you thought we have it easy because we're middle class. We don't. I applied to over a hundred places before I got an interview. The implication that for us to get a job as mibble class males with no work experience is easier than an adult inherently suggests we should feel bad that we have it so good. I acknowedlge i have it better that a lot of people, however, everyone can get a job. It may be a shitty one but it pays. I'm glad we can have a strong debate like this.
