I spent an hour or 2 in the kitchen yesterday teaching Maraih and Kara how to make my baked Ziti....since I have to make so much of it at once it takes forever.....so here is the recipe...since i have the urge to post it...hugs...(oh yeah this is large family recipe...about 2 pans worth)..... So if needing less I would say cut it all in half.........

Ingriedents:

2 boxes of Ziit or penne pasta noodles
                                                               Need a 2 large Aluminum Roasters
1 pound Sweet Italian Sausage                                         the size for Turkey
1 Pound Breakfast Sausage                                            
1 Pound Hamburger

2 cloves garlic (chopped but seperate)
1 purple onion or sweet onion
3-4 green onions
1 lg green bell pepper
3 cans (small) of sliced black olives
1/4 cup of sliced green olives (because of the bitterness its better chop the green olives..)
4 cans of sliced mushrooms (or 1 pound of fresh)
3 red tomatoes (chopped)

2 large bags og Mozzarella Cheese (the 2 or 3 pound bags)
3 containers of Parmesan Cheese

5 regular sized bottles or
3 large bottles of Pata sauce (mixing different flavors makes a good sauce I use Ragu sweet italian sausage and cheese, chunky mushroom, regular, onion garlic and olive oil)

1 tbl spoon of Oregano
1 tbl spoon of Basil
1 Tbl spoon of Italian seasoning

Olive oil


  1. In large pan or skillet brown all meat together with 1 clove chopped garlic, oregano, basil, and Italian seasoning.
  2. In large pan start to boil water with salt and about 4 tbl spoons of olive oil....
    When water is boiling add pasta...
  3. In large bowl pour the pasta sauce stir well if using different flavors
  4. Chop all vegetables..and mix in a large bowl...with 1/2 cup of parmasean and about 2 tbl spoon of olive oil. and other garlic clove
  5. When Pata is done drain well and toss with olive oil about 2 Tble spoons...(this helps it to not stick together and makes it easier to layer in the pan)
  6. Drain meat--make sure it is all done........
  7. Grease the large roaster pan with olive oil
  8. add a layer of Pasta...make sure that the bottom is totaly covered
    the add a layer of meat
    then a cover the sauce with parmesan (until it is mostly white)
    then a layer of Mozzarella
    another layer of pasta
    then a layer of the vegetable mixture
    sauce
    Parmesan
    Mozzerla
    Pasta
    Light layer of sauce at the top
    Parmesan
    Mozzerella
  9. Bake in oven at 375 degrees for about 30 minuets until the top cheese is nice and golden brown.....


So this is a family favorite here ....maybe someone will try it or maybe not but I just felt for some reason like posting it....hugs all....
