WHAT A NIGHT!
Went on "date" (put the term in quotes cause it makes me mutually uncomfortable) with the guy I met a couple weekends ago. It wasn't necessarily a love connection, but let me just say, aside from that BEST FIRST DATE EVER. We went to the Red Sox game (MY FIRST SOX GAME!), and oh my god, it was a-maz-ing! It was the best possible "First Red Sox" game - sooo much fun and celebration and perfect Fenway goodness. It was exactly what I pictured Fenway would be like and more (I guess it didn't hurt that they won with an amazing victory).
The fans. The lights. The music. I mean, I know I've always been a Red Sox fan by default and have watched all the "big games" in the past, but this was the first time I've ever FELT it. The first few innings were alright... but by the 8th/9th, there was just such an ENERGY. And once they played Sweet Caroline... it was alllll over for me. It was succccchhh a great game. As for the guy... I think we both realized that it was just gonna be a platonic thing - he's a really nice guy, but no sparks.
Riding home on the T tonight across the bridge into Cambridge, looking back at the Boston skyline against the river, Red Sox victory energy and joy still encompassing me, I felt more in love with this place than I think I ever have.
red sox,
good times never seemed so good,
