I still have to go through shots from the Aethelmearc Novice Tourney and the Field Battle. It might be a little bit before I'm in the mood for those- there's a lot more to pick through. In the meantime, pictures from the Middle Eastern Dance Expo! Now, photographers were kindly requested to only take pictures of those we had permission from. I'm okay with that- these are not professional-level performers for the most part, i understand not wanting your information plastered all over the internet, etc. On the other hand, i was a little disappointed- I know what it's like to be a beginner performing on a big stage for the first few times, and not have anyone there to take your picture. Most people don't know who's performing/who will have a camera until they get to this show, So I fully respect the performer's privacy, but I think I will be making some suggestions to the coordinator- see if we can get coverage for the people who want it, whether they know what photographer to talk to or not.

I digress. It was just one of those things that caught my mind at the time, something I haven't had to deal with yet, and I've been turning it around ever since.

That means, of course, that I only have pictures of people I knew who wouldn't mind, so there are only a handful underneath. Unfortunately, neither the quantity or the quality I was looking for- the light just wasn't agreeing with me for most of it, but I got what I could.

Kari Merlina of Sadiqa, performing with part of Ishtar.

Hakan! Or Norm, as we know him. He performed an improvised drum solo, complete with sword.

Christine of Zafira, dancing with her daughter Mina. Ridiculously cute.

Olivia of Zafira.

The beautiful ladies of Zafira Dance Co. Jen is there in the background, she's that strange blur between Maria and Olivia.

They performed an adorable, tongue-in-cheek vaudevillian piece that was just fantastic. It was great to see them all dancing together, too.

The rest of the set can be viewed here.
