The Twin Cities has had its bridge catastrophe overglamourized by that Media which adores exaggeration. All the news analysts speak of the bridge collapse rising infrastructure questions, but that will be on the national conscience until Britney Spears distracts us again. Of course, some will say I demean the event that has wide implications for where I live. There is loss of life, but in the categories of economics and transportation have wide implications too. But, as usual, it will soon be forgot because the reactionary pariahs are running out of things to panic about with their Doomsday scenarios because Homeland Security training has made first responders react efficiently not only to rescue but to redirect traffic.
As for me, all is safe with my family and my friends. Many relatives I have not heard from in years have been calling Mom all flustered that she uses that bridge though she never drives on the freeway; they should have contacted Sister since she is the one who uses it. Thank goodness we still have landlines since cell service was erratic. And as usual, Dad was out on another business trip when major events like this happen, but at least he was not stranded somewhere this time.
