Spokane Day 7, Sasquan Day 5

Aug 25, 2015 09:19

The day started out with the Christian service performed by Reverend Randy and Facebook Darrell. It was nice and positive. Nicki Lynch told me she went to the vigil mass on Saturday and there was a marriage during the scheduled mass. We both thought that was odd, though St. James (Orlando’s cathedral) combines quinces and baptisms with regular mass.

I checked out the Business Meeting.  The voted for E.Plubris Hugo amendment.  I am not sure about this.  It is a bit complicated.

Then it was the Leonard Nimoy Memorial panel with Leigh Ann Hildebrand, Ginjer Buchanan, and David Gerrold.  David Gerrold talked about meeting Nimoy for the first time and some other interactions he had with him. Buchanan moderated the panel and disucuss her feelings of Nimoy. Leigh Ann Hildebrand discussed Nimoy's Jewish heritage and performed a Kaddish.  Well done.

Next was Collegues as Family with Vonda McIntyre, George R.R. Martin, Connie Willis and David Gerrold.  This discussed the positives and negatives of the SF community. More positives than negative. It was fun.

I did some last minute shopping and then went to Closing Ceremonies.  Chris Barkley won a special award from the con committee and thanked his partner Julie Marr.  Then it was MidAmericon II's presentation.  They showed a funny retro newsreel film showing Kansas City, MO.  Then I helped take apart Filthy Pierre's flyers shelves, dropped in on Bay Area SF Association meeting, had a Japanese dinner with John Day, mailed some books to myself and checked out the Dead Dog. It was crowded but fun I decided I needed to get packed and ready for an early flight.  Monday was spent on planes and airports (mainly Denver for a long lay over).
