Question for you crafty folk

Here's the thing... I want grommet curtains, but I don't want to make them. IKEA sells some very plain ones. Could I just sew on a patterned fabric on top of it? I'd leave a border on the top (and maybe on the bottom for balance) so I won't have to deal with cutting out circles and etc ( Read more... )

Don't think I didn't think about just sewing the top of it on. If it was easier to find what I was looking for, I would have bought it by now. But alas, it looks to be easier to make it.

EVEN MORE simple, you can get iron on stuff that goes between the fabric and curtain, iron, and bam! it sticks by itself. no sewing needed. :] any craft/frabric store should have the stuff. you can either buy a roll [think ribbon] so you can just outline the edges, or purchase in sheets. i like the roll. it tends to be much cheaper and just as strong.

Uhhhhh... yeah. That is a way more awesome idea than sewing it on! That's my new plan.

I agree with Kix... I don't see why not. And that would make them a little thicker to keep light out! (I have black out curtains in my room and I looove how dark it stays when they're closed!)

The thicker thing is what I was going for... not to mention not having to bother with the top part of the curtains! I don't own a sewing machine. I'm not about to start making curtains.
