Summary - Liberal Party Platform

After learning how the “big boy” parties of Canada present their policies, I gained a new level of respect and admiration for the Green Party. It takes courage and commitment to your principles to be able to spell out, in advance, all of your policies in writing. I like the sound of those things, but for me, it just sounds too centrist. It sounds like pretty much keeping Canada the way it is now, with a small change in social investing and the environment.

I would never believe that ALL the Liberals would be able to produce and maintain this vision though, nor do I believe anyone competent could take over the position should Dion step down, or die or something. We all remember what happens in those cases, Kim Campbell and Paul Martin (but I mostly wanted to draw attention to Kim Campbell). I just don't believe it's the Liberals platform, I believe it's their leader's.

The thing is, you've gotta be somewhat centrist in order to get enough votes to have a chance to put your platform into action.

I realize that. But voting in more lefty people will help the center run a lot better.

True. I agree. The voice of the left (in terms of environmental policy, and expressing the potential "trouble" with absolute Laissez Faire economics) is needed in parliament, and needs to become louder ( ... )

Thanks, I've been hoping to dig into their platform. Yes, carbon tax that doesn't include transport fuel is giving into the farmer's and commuter's pressures.
