Very important life-lessons too.
So, were you aware that at least two of the numbers listed in "How To Leave The Planet" in the Guide to the Guide of the Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide work/sort of work?
So, yeah. I brought my Guide with me to school today, and we were browsing it at lunch, and started discussing the numbers, and how we always read them and thought about calling them but never did. We started out with the Pope, but that didn't work out since I had forgotten how to use my international calling card. However, it DOES have the correct country code.
Next, we tried NASA, and actually sort of got through. Only, not to NASA. The number for NASA connects you to the Federal Reserve Bank in Dallas.
Finally, we tried the White House. And it actually freakin' WORKS. So I left a message on the answering machine (yes, there is an answering machine. My guess is that the secretaries listen to them and then systematically delete them) asking what the President's opinion on stem cell research was and could he be so kind as to come to Oregon and explain why? It was for a biology debate.
Tomorrow, if I figure out my calling card, we're trying the Kremlin. YAY!
I got a call from Dad at the hospital, he's doing well. Apparently the angiogram showed that his arteries are remarkably clear, which will make his later surgery waaay easier and lower the risk. He'll be home around eight.
