Movie of the month [April 2010]

May 10, 2010 16:52

Better put this up before I forget.

Hey, summer is almost here! That means mindless popcorn flicks.. let's hope they're not all bad this year. Here are the top 5 movies I've seen in April.

1. Kick-Ass

At first I wondered why it received a whopping 8++ rating on imdb. It's a super hero movie but it's not. It's different, and funny, and bloody, and cool. Not wanting to spoil it for those who haven't seen it, but look out for Hit Girl! She steals the show. You'll love it if you don't mind a bit of blood. It's quite violent.

2. Forgetting Sarah Marshall
A romantic comedy for adults about a guy who was dumped by his girlfriend (who's an actress in a show that looks like they're making fun of CSI xD) and decides to mend his broken heart in Hawaii, only to find his ex there with her new boyfriend. It stars Marshall from How I Met Your Mother and a bunch of other funny actors. It's not a new movie, I just haven't gotten to watching it. I should have. It's hilarious.

Also, there's a beautiful Hawaiian version of the song Nothing Compares To You at the end of the movie. But youtube is being an ass and blocking it so I can't show you. You should try to find and listen to it.

3. Iron Man 2
I'm not a fan of Iron Man. I found part 1 entertaining, and part 2 picks up where it left off. So it's still entertaining, and Robert Downey Jr. does well again. But that's all I can say. Oh, and this time there's Scarlett Johansson *droooool*

4. Little Big Soldier

This Jackie Chan movie is much better than many of his last few Hollywood attempts. His chemistry with the serious Wang Lee Hom was very funny.

5. Date Night
You can't go wrong with Steve Carell and Tina Fey, can you? The story is very simple but they improvised a lot on the dialogue so you should pay attention to their silliness.

A little disappointed with.. Kaiji. It's the reunion of Tatsuya Fujiwara and Ken'ichi Matsuyama since Death Note. But Ken'ichi is just a bit character that appears out of no where and isn't on for long (but at least his character is not unimportant). It's sort of like a simpler version of Liar Game, with lots of shouting, over acting and talking to drag the show over 2 hours. However, it's watchable.. it's actually not that bad.

Was bored to tears watching... Dear John.

p/s: I'm having trouble with the links again. I don't know why ~_~;
